Where I've been!
Hi, friends. It feels like it’s been ages since I last wrote a blog post! I finally shared the news on Instagram, but my husband and I are expecting! I’m due in early November, and we’re over-the-moon excited. I’m fourteen weeks, and this season of my life has felt overwhelming in the best way.
I was surprised to learn just how absent I would be online, but I think the break from social media was exactly what I needed. I guess I was still a content consumer, but I didn’t have the energy to be a content creator, if that makes sense. I feel like I’ve spent the last few months under a rock or lurking in the shadows! I’m feeling more and more like myself every day, but I’m still not completely up to speed.
What I’m Reading
This pregnancy so far has drained me of any motivation to read, I’m sad to say. But I did finally finish Daisy Jones and the Six (and loved it, of course). I wouldn’t say it’s a new favorite for me, but I did devour it like candy (while listening to way too much Fleetwood Mac!).
I’m also still reading Once Upon a River, which I put down and picked back up about ten times—not at all because of the story, but 100 percent because of how I was feeling. I’m also listening to The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty—another book I’m hoping will be a “candy read” and pull me out of this slump—and so far it’s okay, but not as compelling to me as Big Little Lies.
I also started The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise on audio. I’ve heard amazing things about this middle-grade book, and I’m hoping the short audiobooks will also help me out of this slump. Overall though, I’m trying to give myself grace—it’s okay to be in this season where everything is new and I don’t feel like reading. I’m binging TV shows on Netflix and sleeping a lot, and you know what? I’m pretty okay with that.
I will say, I’m almost finished with one book that is slowly changing my life. Praying the Bible by Donald Whitney is a simple game-changer. I will share more about my experience reading this book in a separate post, but for now, I wanted to give you the highlights!
What I’ve Been Working On
I took a short break from freelance projects this past month, and it’s been heavenly. All of my time and energy has gone into the publisher I work for, but I’ve started working once a week on my editing 101 class, which is (fingers crossed!) hopefully going to launch in August 2019.
I planned to get a jump-start on this in January and February, but life had other plans for me. Saying no to freelance projects right now means I can finally say yes to creating lesson and video material for this class, which I’ve been brainstorming for months. I can’t wait to share more information with you! Now that I’m starting to feel more like myself, I’m sure I will be sharing those updates on freelance life on Instagram, so make sure you’re following me there if you want to see those real-time updates!
How have you been, friends? What have you been reading? What have you been working on? I’m slowly emerging from under my rock, and it feels good. Thanks for sticking around with all the crickets. x
