How to Get Out of a Reading Slump

It’s no surprise that I often find myself in reading slumps: I’m the kind of reader who doesn’t particularly enjoy reading in seasons of stress or busyness. I wish I were an escapist reader, but I’m really not. It’s also not a shocker to say that the best way to get out of a reading slump is, sadly, to ride it out.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but sometimes we need breaks from reading. I’m usually quick to tell other readers this in the midst of their reading slumpiness, but I’m not as gracious with my own reading habits. So really, I’m writing this blog post for future Mollie to revisit when I find myself in the inevitable reading slump.

Where I've been!

Hi, friends. It feels like it’s been ages since I last wrote a blog post! I finally shared the news on Instagram, but my husband and I are expecting! I’m due in early November, and we’re over-the-moon excited. I’m fourteen weeks, and this season of my life has felt overwhelming in the best way. I was surprised to learn just how absent I would be online, but I think the break from social media was exactly what I needed. I guess I was still a content consumer, but I didn’t have the energy to be a content creator, if that makes sense. I feel like I’ve spent the last few months under a rock or lurking in the shadows! I’m feeling more and more like myself every day, but I’m still not completely up to speed.
